Bradley Burn, Wolsingham, Weardale, County Durham, DL13 3JH
The cottages at Bradley Burn Farm are situated around sunny courtyards close to the burn. Look out for herons, eels or kingfisher, or just sit and enjoy the water rippling past.
Granary cottage is ideal for families; the others are perfect for couples. All have been sensitively converted from traditional stone farm buildings and are comfortably furnished with all the facilities of a modern home. We have a Games Room with table tennis, pool, and books, games and DVDs to borrow.
Well placed for sightseeing in the North East, we are within an hour’s drive of the lively centres of Newcastle and Gateshead and within half an hour of the world heritage site of Durham cathedral and castle, Beamish Open Air Museum and the pleasant and historic market towns of Barnard Castle and Hexham. The unspoilt Northern Pennines are on the doorstep, and day trips to the Alnwick Castle Gardens and Holy Island are also possible.
If outdoor activities appeal, there is excellent walking in the area – we have a large collection of walks leaflets and can lend maps-, mountain biking in Hamsterley forest, and several local riding schools offer trekking as well as tuition. There are also fishing opportunities in the area, and the local golf club welcomes visitors.
